Palau Dalmases is located in the gothic neighborhood of Barcelona. It is a palace that dates back to the 17th century, a former gothic bulding with remaining elements such as the 15th century chapel. The façade is gothic but the most interesting part is the baroque yard and its staircase with salomonic columns that hold the arches. The name of the palace comes from Pau Ignasi de Dalmases i Ros, a Catalan nobleman and scholar, son of a wealthy merchant. In 1690 he married Maria de Vilana de Cordelles y de Giúdice and had his residence built, called Palau Dalmases.
