November 2018 will celebrate 100 years anniversary since the First World War finished. When this conflict ended, jazz became a symbol of freedom and integration and that's when this genre came to Europe, choosing Barcelona as the gateway to the new rhythms and everything they implied. On the occasion of this anniversary, the Museum of the History of Catalonia invites you to enjoy the festival "100 jazz anys, a segle d'història" (100 years of jazz, a century of history), a 6-night cycle where music and history will come together to show you the roots of jazz.
Every Wednesday, till August 8, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a concert on the terrace of the Museum of the History of Catalonia, from where you can enjoy splendid views over the seafront of Port Vell, Barceloneta and Moll de la fusta. The concerts start at 10pm, but you can access the museum at 8pm and visit the temporary exhibitions. At 8:30pm you will be offered a guided tour to the exhibition "Flames to the border, Catalonia and the War" included in the ticket price, which gives you access to the concert and a drink to choose.
There are two more jazz concerts left to enjoyat the Museum of the History of Catalonia: On August 1 the Cotton Roots and their "delta blues" will transport us to Mississippi. The last concert of the cycle will be starring "Shakin 'All" and his swing dance. If you´ve decided to visit Barcelona you can always stay in Two Sisters Apartments and enjoy the city and its offers!
