Andy Warhol: the Art Mechanic
Andy Warhol New Exhibiton
Since today up until December 31, the CaixaForum is offering an exhibition on the creative development of Andy Warhol, called "the Art Mechanic", from his initial work in graphic design to the moment he became the universal pop art icon. Warhol used all sorts of gadgets and industrial techniques to create, such as video recordings and screen printing. The artist himself defined his mechanical production methods as comparable to a production line. Part of his genius came from his ability to capture the cult appeal of industrially produced goods from the 19th century. For an amazing stay in Barcelona, take a look at beautiful apartments by Two Sisters Apartments in the neighborhood of Sant Antoni.
The exhibition in CaixaForum shows Andy Warhol’s creative evolution via his work with machines and industrial techniques. The exhibition also includes a selection of essays written by experts on his work, as well as a selection of portraits of the artist, with photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe, Richard Avedon and Alberto Schommer.
From the pharaohs of ancient Egypt to the United States of Andy Warhol. This is the Art Mechanic of the artist who designed the Campbell's soup cans or Marilyn Monroe's colored portraits, who transformed Liz Taylor and Elvis Presley from the myths of cinema to the icons of contemporary art. All the portraits will be presented at this exposition, which will feature 350 of his unmistakable works from the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, the MoMA in New York, the Pompidou in Paris or the Tate Gallery in London, among others museums.
